What does the Assessment involve?
Following initial inquiry and consultation the following stages
usually occur:
- A questionnaire is sent to individuals and or parents/guardians
to collect background information.
- Where possible, further information is also requested from educational
institutions and other professionals.
- An appointment for the assessment can be arranged at home,
school or office, but preferably at a venue familiar to the child.
- The assessment usually takes between 2-3 hours and will involve
a number of assessment techniques including psychometric tests*.
- Immediately following the assessment, verbal feedback is provided
for the individual and/or parents/guardians. Statistical information,
age equivalent performances and IQ results are also available
at this stage.
- A detailed written report with conclusions and recommendations
is prepared within 3 weeks of the assessment.
*(The psychometric tests used will be the most recent versions
of the following:
Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scales of Intelligence (WPPSI)
Wechsler Intelligence Scales for Children (WISC)
Wechsler adult Intelligence Scales (WAIS)
